Biography

Abhishek Sinha, Co-founder and CEO of Eko. He journey has been shaped by technology, entrepreneurship, and a deep commitment to India’s small businesses and micro-entrepreneurs, which he believes will play the defining role in building a Viksit Bharat.

He completed schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, and pursued Electronics & Communication Engineering at BIT Mesra, early professional years were spent in telecom and technology, where he experienced first-hand how scalable digital infrastructure could transform access for millions of people. Those experiences eventually shaped his entrepreneurial path.

The trigger to become an entrepreneur came from a chance but deeply influential interaction with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at an airport, before he became the President of India. During that conversation, he encouraged Abhishek to read My India: The India Eternal by Swami Vivekananda. More importantly, he told that one should be grateful for the privilege of upbringing and education, and that the best way to put that privilege to use was to become an entrepreneur for the country.

That conversation stayed with him. It changed the way he looked at entrepreneurship — not merely as a business pursuit, but as a responsibility to create meaningful impact, build livelihoods, and contribute to India’s development. Over time, this belief led to the founding of Eko in 2007.

At Eko, mission is to provide Distribution as a Service for brands to reach the next billion customers through deeply embedded community micro-entrepreneurs who act as influencers, facilitators, and resellers. They use simple digital tools to help these entrepreneurs earn more, get fair access to capital, and run and grow their businesses better every day.

Abhishek strongly believe that Viksit Bharat can only be achieved on the back of India’s SMBs and MSMEs. Their ambition at Eko is to become their economic engine. This is also why they are increasingly embracing open-source technologies, driven by belief in technology and data sovereignty, and in reducing the total cost of technology ownership to near zero.

This mission is not easy. For many of the micro-entrepreneurs and MSMEs they serve, Eko is not just a platform; it is a meaningful source of livelihood. Building for them requires resilience, discipline, creativity, customer obsession, and a strong work ethic. It requires people who take ownership, remain dependable under pressure, and are willing to stretch themselves when the mission demands it. Those are values that continue to define both Abhishek’s personal journey and Eko’s culture today.

Bihar does not lack history, talent, or resilience—it lacks collective urgency and sustained support. For decades, its story has been told in fragments, often defined by what it is not, rather than what it can become. Grand Trunk Road Initiatives was born to change that narrative—through research, dialogue, and platforms that bring Bihar back into meaningful national and global conversations.
But vision alone is never enough.

Every archive built, every conversation hosted, every young mind inspired—these are not abstract ideas. They require belief, participation, and support from those who see value in rebuilding something larger than themselves. GTRi is an independent effort, driven not by institutions of power, but by conviction that Bihar deserves better—and can achieve it.

If you believe Bihar’s future should not be left to chance, if you believe ideas can shape economies, and if you believe that change begins with those willing to step forward—this is your moment to contribute.
Support GTRi. Strengthen the effort. Be part of a movement that is working, quietly but persistently, to give Bihar the platform, dignity, and momentum it deserves.
Because the future of Bihar will not be written by a few—it will be built by many.
